Monday 9th May 2016 – Allotment update and some bonus Beetroot.

Today was another glorious day. Although thankfully not quite as hot as yesterday. Still very humid though, but at least we had a little breeze blowing which was wonderful. I spent just under 3 hours on my allotment this morning, and managed to get loads done. I filled more tyres with soil and chicken manure and transplanted more Strawberry plants that are growing out of their designated place. I then dug over another couple of beds, and then moved some soil from the compost heaps. So all in all, a good mornings work. I’m exhausted now and very dirty and messy.

I wish all my other beds looked like these ones. Hopefully they will in a couple of weeks.

So all in all, a good mornings work. I also did a little update on how everything is progressing, which I hope you enjoy.

  1. Awesome update thank you for sharing have a blessed day

  2. Creative me says:

Did you take some glass off your greenhouse?
I’ve never done that, but could see how it might help keep things from cooking. I forgot to open the door of mine the other day and the temperatures got EXTREME! My poor seedlings looked tortured and the tops of the tomatoes never recovered (though the lower leave look okay now)

    • I didn’t take it off, it got blown off during Storm Katie, and I’ve yet to replace it. Hopefully I’ll get round to it soon. To stop the leaves from burning in the greenhouse attached bubble wrap to the glass.

  3. bawaaaa Maine is so cold now, un naturally cold spring. Nothing planted yet as the soil has not warmed up enough. …. With wind chill yesterday was 26 f.
