Thursday 27th June 2013 – All the beans are in, and I had a pleasant surprise.

A HUGE amount was done today, and before I knew where I was, I’d been on my plot for just over 2 hours, it was just after noon, and time to go home for lunch. I got all my “Purple Teepee” Dwarf French beans in today. They’ve been filling in lots of little holes, so now all they need to do is grow beautifully, which I’m sure they will. I finished weeding another bed, and found some lovely parsnips growing underneath all the weeds. They’ve not come through as well as I’d hoped, and not a good as other years, but as I’m the only one in the house that eats them, I guess not having too many is a good thing. I sowed some more “White Lisbon” Spring Onions, and another row of “Nantes 5” Carrots, picked some more strawberries, and finally I started digging the last bed at the end that I was dreading. I was pleasantly surprised, as it wasn’t as hard as I’d imagined it to be. But I did come across several red ants nest, and knelt on one, and the little bugger stung/bit (not sure what they do) me through my leggings to my knee! It’s still is swollen and red, horrible little bugger! Now this evening it’s off to do some Karaoke, as Mark is leaving work, and they’re having a bit of a goodbye thing for him. I can’t really sing, so I don’t know how I’m going to fair. A serious amount of wine is going to have to be consumed before I get up and sing in front of people I only know through Mark’s work. It’s bad enough when we have a music night in Spain and I have to sing in front of my family.
