Friday 25th January 2013 – Pineberries.

I ordered some of these plants a while ago, and they arrived a couple of days ago, and I’ve just made it to the greenhouse to put them in until the ground is soft enough to dig, it’s still frozen. I made a little video about them also which should be up soon. Hands got very cold, and I couldn’t feel my fingers so I came in, will go out later and start the garlic.

Tuesday 22nd January 2013 – Allotment Wars

If you live in the UK watch “Allotment Wars” tonight on BBC1 at 10.35pm. I hope I can assure you that we’re not all like these people, but not having watched it yet who can say. I’ll have to record it and watch tomorrow lunch time as it’s past my bed time.

Monday 21st January 2013 – cress is coming along nicely.

Well I’ve filmed the second instalment of the cress adventure, and it’s growing very well. Interesting to see the difference. Hopefully Mark can edit it soon and then you can watch it. Just to let you know I filmed this one inside as the greenhouse is covered in snow and quite dark, plus is freezing outside.

Sunday 20th January 2013 – Spud Chitting day, how exciting!

All my seed potatoes arrived the other day, a special thanks to Aimee for bring them round in the snow. It’s only when you get them out of their bags that you realise how many you ordered. Not all have arrived yet, but so far I’ve got the following varieties: Apache, Picasso and Blue Belle. They’ve taken up 4 trays already. They’re sitting on top of my kitchen cupboards and will stay there until they get planted in March. They go up on the cupboards every year. When chitting potatoes make sure they can see light easily. You can always put them on the window sill in a cardboard egg box, but mine go on metal trays and are very happy. Well I hope they are, they’ve not complained.

Saturday 19th January 2013 – Kids playing in the snow!

Playing in the snow.

Playing in the snow.

The kids spent most of the morning playing in the garden in the snow. They had loads of fun throwing snowballs at each other. Make the most of it, as thankfully it won’t last long.

Friday 18th January 2013 – Snow is here!!

Well the first few flakes started to fall just before 8am this morning, and it’s getting heavier and heavier. There is a lovely covering at the moment, so let’s see how much we finally get. To be honest I thought it would be more than this, so I’m quite pleased. Don’t get me wrong I love snow, but when Mark and I are supposed to go to London tomorrow to celebrate our anniversary with a film and a fab meal, I’m getting a bit worried. I’m sure it’ll be ok, but we don’t have a plan B.
