Saturday 20th April 2013 – Busy, busy day.

Well I’ve spent most of the morning and most of the afternoon in the greenhouse re-arranging and potting up loads of seedlings. The greenhouse is getting very full now, but I’ve still got lots more to do. I’ve potted up all my sunflowers, which I haven’t a clue what varieties they are, hopefully a mixture, but I’ll just have to wait and see. Also all my “Hawk” Butternut squash, my “Gagat” squash, some “Savoy” cabbage and all my “Money Maker” tomatoes. My hands are really dry and rough now, so a serious amount of hand cream is needed, then a sit down in the lovely sunshine with some alcohol, (well it is the weekend, and I’ve worked very hard). That’s my excuse and I’m sticking to it.

Friday 19th April 2013 – Bare rooted Black Current.

A lovely lady called Ros gave me 3 small “Bare rooted” black currents. “Bare rooted” means that they’re just the plant, and no soil, so basically the roots are bare. I do love currents, whether they’re white, red or black. I’ve just put each of them in a pot, and when they get a bit bigger they’ll go in the allotment. As it’s a new thing, I also made a quick film about them. Also, my Asparagus have been soaking for 48 hours now, so I also planted those.

Friday 19th April 2013 – So many Beetroot and a few Spring onions.

Had a lovely morning on my plot. I managed to dig over a bit more of the bed where the onions are going in and planted another 48,(which was all I had with me). I then sowed the rest of the “Lilia” Spring onions, and 3 packet of Beetroot. To be honest I’m not that keen on it, but Mark loves. If you do eat too much it makes your wee pink. I sowed “Chioggia”, “Burpee’s Golden” and “Boltardy”. It’s all starting to take shape now, I’m one happy bunny. But still lots more to do.
