For me it’s time to start getting many of my harvest up and the beds ready for winter. Today I can home with a lovely array of goodies. I’ve now dug up all my Beetroot, they did very well this year, and even though some were still a little too small, there weren’t many, so I decided to dig the entire lot up. I got a wonderful amount and have now boiled them, and will skin them when they’re cold and put in the freezer until we need them. I also harvested another Cabbage, some rogue Potatoes, a Cucumber, some Tomatoes, some more Rocket, some Radish and a selection of Sunflowers, which I put in a vase on the dining room table. Just to brighten up the place a bit more. Everything else is still growing well, but I can see that the Squash and Pumpkin plants are starting to very slowly loose their greenness and so I would guess in about 4 weeks time I’ll be harvesting all those. I spent 2 hours on my allotment, and the weather was very hot and sticky, so lots of water was drunk (yes just water there was no gin in there as well, just incase you were wondering) and then home for a bit of a cool down. A very successful morning. Back again soon.

thank you for sharing have a blessed day
What a great harvest ☺
Claire, yes, I have to start the Fall cleanup and bed soil build up for next Spring. The Fall leaf/grass mixture will begin soon. It’s my bed covering for the Winter months. Over all it was a good garden year and I’m sad to see it winding down but glad for the coming Winter rest.
Have a great harvest day on the allotment,.
Yes it’s sad when the garden comes to an end for the year. But it’s time to start planning for the following year. This I find really exciting.
