Friday 2nd September 2016 – Salad for lunch anyone?

Another great couple of hours on my allotment this morning. Emily is back to school and George goes back on Monday, so that’s one down and one to go. Actually I’ll miss them when they’re back at school, the house will be quiet. I’m clearing beds as I go now up the allotment, weeding and just generally having a tidy. I managed 3 wheel barrow loads today which feels good. There are still lots more goodies to harvest, but they won’t be ready for a good month or so. But when I harvest anything new I’ll let you know. I only came home with a few bits today, but I think that’s lunch sorted for me. George is having yesterdays left over dinner (pasta and bacon).

Rocket, Black Radish and a variety of Tomatoes! Yum!!

  1. thank you for sharing have a blessed day Claire

Claire, yes, the garden is winding down here too. I still have to lift the potatoes. That’s the last major garden harvest. The tomatoes are starting to trickle off. The temps here get down to 14 or 15 at night which isn’t good for ripening tomatoes. There still are tons of green tomatoes but none are getting ripe. The flush is over. Yesterday was only a five tomato day instead of a five gallon bucket full like at the height of harvesting. The rains have caused a massive growth in the weeds so the daily task is to, like you, keep tidying up and hope for the best.

Have a great day in the quiet house.
