Saturday 26th March 2016 – Let’s see how the Kohl Rabi are getting on.

I sowed my Kohl Rabi “Modrava F1” in the greenhouse on 16th February, and they’ve been growing very well for the last 6 weeks. Now that they’re large enough, they can now be potted up into individual 3 inch pots. What better way to spend part of the Easter weekend but in the greenhouse having fun.

I’m getting very close to episode 300, I hope you’re getting as excited as I am?!

Claire, I spent the Winter of 2014/2015 watching all your videos from the very first one all the way through seven years. Ha, yeah, I can remember episode 200. It was a funny one. I doubt you can top that one with episode 300. But then again you are Claire the extraordinaire.

    Have a very Happy Easter.

I am so envious you have a green house. I have a “blow away” ( plastic green house ) and believe me they deserve this nickname. Once you have had one blow itself to shreds then take off and drape itself over your apple tree you never put it up too early or leave it up too late in the season. As heavy winds are forecast for the next few days where I live and are making themselves felt already I am going to have to wait til next weekend to start sowing seeds.I can’t sow indoors this year because we are re-plastering the room I usually use. which is the only south facing room. I hope the plants soon catch up.

    • If you can get a proper glass greenhouse do. They are essential for growing. I love mine, actually I have 2 greenhouses. One at home and one on the allotment. The plastic ones don’t keep the heat in and unless they’re really weighted down they will fly away with the slightest of breezes. They never tell you that in the instructions though. My neighbour at home got a small plastic greenhouse once. I told her to put a paving slab on the bottom shelf, but she knew best, apparently! We had some wind and it blew down the garden and the contents was strewn about the garden. She learnt the hard way.

Claire, I really like your green house videos. Hearing the contented chicken sounds in the background takes me back to a time when I was young and loved being on my uncle’s farm.

    • Yes my hens like to make themselves heard on my videos. They think that every time I’m out in the garden they’re going to get some food. Oh I’d better go and shut them up it’s just getting dark.
