Sunday 26th August 2012 – Site Summer Social.

Just finished unpacking the car after our site summer social. A huge success, loads of people came, some regulars and some new. We had a BBQ, cake stall, bric a brac, raffle, plant stall, tombola, book stall, guess the wight of the cake, lots of games for the kids to play with and the bee keepers had a table as they’ve just placed a hive on our site which is fantastic. Congratulations to everyone who donated things and helped out, but especially a huge thanks to Jane, Jon, Malcolm, Colin and many others who did so much to make today so enjoyable.

    Sounds like a real pleasant day was had by all. Our summer gathering was to be a barbeque in the grounds of the allotments, but given that we were suffering intermittant heavy rains (again) it was moved to a “get together” at the local pub. Nice chats -good people, great time, but missed the open air cooking and the aroma, especially as I have some lovely sauces/sides to add from my days overseas. Ah well maybe next year?

      We were incredibly lucky with the weather, and there was a great turn out. Hopefully next year will be rain free and you will be able to have a BBQ. It was great the way that those who were working on their plots came over for lunch and a chat before resuming on their plots. It’s our 3rd social, hopefully many more to follow. Sounds like to have fun at the local pub though.
