Another cycle to the allotment today as Mark is still away with the car. When I got there I could hear shouts and cheers from the running track, which is next to the allotment, as Emily’s school were having their sports day there. They were all getting very excited. I managed to get a load more of the path done, so my first plot looks much tidier now. There’s still a huge amount to do, but it’s getting there. I dug up a few more potatoes, weeded a load more and picked some rhubarb. I didn’t need it, but it needed to be picked. I texted my sister to ask if she wanted any, but she’s just picked a load herself, so I took it home and gave it to the lady next door but one. I know she’ll make good use of it.

I too picked some more rhubarg that really likes the rain. sun is out and warming up.
lookes like i may have blight on toms , this could be a bad year for it so have treated with copper sulphate
Still picked a few purple dwarf beans , and they are lovely they cook green though
been freezing some courgettes too.
My tomatoes have got blight. I kept looking every day and was ready to treat at the first sign, but then it struck with a vengeance and there was too much for me to combat. The only option I had was to remove. I still have some growing really well in the greenhouse, so I’ll get a good crop from them. The way to keep some of the colour in the purple beans is to boil the water, then put the beans in for about 2 minutes, then take straight out and eat, that way they’re still crunchy and have a lot of their purple colour. Try it, it makes a huge difference.
