Cooking Asparagus peas.

I’ve been meaning to let you know how I got on with these strange looking veggies. Well, I had some the other day for my lunch, and this is what I did. As usual for lunch I have any left overs from last nights dinner, so I had a few potatoes and 2 fish fingers. I fried them in a little olive oil until they were browned and just before they were done I popped in the asparagus pea pods. I then continued to fry for about 1 minute until the pods were soft, then tipped on a plate and ate. The pods were still slightly crunchy, and had a slight asparagus flavour to them. They were very nice. I’m sure there are other ways of cooking them, and I’ll see what else can be done with them.

I can’t wait to try my asparagus peas, your about 3 weeks ahead of me……..it was seeing you on your you tube page that made me plant them i had not even heard of them till then! I planted some garlic for the first time this year, do you know what i should look out for when their ready to harvest??? 🙂

    • Enjoy your asparagus peas when they’re ready. As for garlic, when the leaves go brown then it’s time to pull them up. Then put them in a frost free place to dry for about 1 month, then string them up. A garage or greenhouse will do just fine.
