Sorry I’ve been away for a while, but I’m just getting over a bout of Bronchitis. I had it about 5 years ago, and then got it again. I was not happy, it kept me in bed for 5 days. The doctor gave me some really strong antibiotics and they’ve done the trick. I’ve still got a cough, but feel so much better. I went to the allotment this morning and got stuck in to more weeding. I’ve done another bed and then started to plant some red onions. I got done all the ones I took with me which I was pleased about. More tomorrow so hopefully it won’t rain. I’ve got loads of bits to do.

Dear Claire, so soory to hear you have not been well. Bronchitus is horrible, makes you feel exhausted in additioin to feeling unwell and sleeping badly. Still lots of fresh and and deep breathing ( + lots of garlic should help. Steam is alos great.

Hope you really pick up soon Claire. Bronchitis ca be very unpleasant. Following your Youtube vid 159 I felt driven to grow onion plants rather than use sets. So I bought Buntons Showstoppers and set them away. In a short time I had some nicely spaced onions in the tray and was wondering what to do next, as the weather in the north was cold and wet. I didnt want to take them outside at that time, when I noticed the tips were beginning to shrivel and go white. One after another the new plants died back until i was left with about 10. As the weather had warmed up I decided to plant them out in 4inch pots to harden the remainder, but still the tip went white until I am now left with 1. Any ideas as to what went wrong please? I have searched the internet for showstopper plants to replace them but to no avail.

    • I need to do a video of what to do next with the little onions. I’ll get that done next week, so hopefully it’ll be up next weekend. Basically you’ve done the right thing, maybe it’s just too cold for them. You can plants from the greenhouse straight in the soil outside, but harden off before hand for a couple of weeks. It’s not too late to start a few more, try Victoriana Nursery Gardens, they have loads to choose from.
