Well today was exciting up the allotment, there I was merrily weeding away and then suddenly the heavens opened! I had to make a mad dash for the car, try that in your wellies, not the easiest of things to do. There were several words that I uttered that I’m glad no one else heard. After spending at least 5 minutes in the car it cleared I could resume with my task. As I left I decided to see if anything was ready to pick, and found enough Mangetout for dinner tonight, and several Spring Onions. For lunch I had a rather large Radish, a Spring Onion and a sandwich. Then I went swimming and cleaned all the mud off (I wasn’t that dirty).

One of the things I will always remember about my 2 years in England is that the raindrops seem bigger than any other I have felt elsewhere. Perhaps it is the softness of the water.. or something but they always felt like each one was a bucket of water sent my way. You paint a very imaginable picture of you dashing for the shelter of your car,, complete with sound effects (#@%*#% Rain!) Happy munchings , you have earned it!

  2. LOL I can just imagine you Claire,,,,hotfooting it to the car in wellies. Lets hope everything grows well with this rain. It is Winter in Tassie so we are getting plenty of rain to store for Summer. Nothing much growing …some broadbeans, spinach, garlic, celery and snow peas.

    • Life is so glamourous on the allotment. I must have looked a sight trying to run in them to the car. The plants have definitely enjoyed the rain, but so have the weeds. It’s full on harvest season now. Must make more space in the freezer.
