What a wonderful way to spend Mothers’ Day. I spent most of the afternoon in the greenhouse planting more seeds, and re-potting other bits. All the tomatoes that are re-potable (is that a word?) have been done. I’ve got a few that I planted later and they’re not quite ready yet, but give them a couple of weeks and they’ll be ready. I also re-potted my Kohl Rabi. I’ve kept a few spare ones for my sister with a few brief instructions. I’m sure she can cope, but I’m on the end of the phone if she needs me. I planted loads of seeds, are you ready for this?….Broccoli, Gagat Summer Squash, Mesclun Mix, more Butternut, Jack o Lantern, Sweet Dumpling, Table Queen and some Squash seeds that I got in Spain I think they’re called Cucurbita Moschata, they look very odd which is what made me buy them. There’s more to come… I also sowed some flowers Hollyhocks, Lupins, Campanula, and a variety of Poppies. I think I need to lie down now I’m exhausted. I hope all the mum’s are having a great day, and getting to do what they enjoy. I’m planning on going to the allotment tomorrow as I’ve got onions that need to go in, lots and lots of onions.

busy you! I just got the garlic in the allotment today. Suddenly many of the other plots have what looks like garlic growing well, so I’m a bit behind! Did you plant hollihocks in pots and then you’ll transplant? or can they be sown direct in the garden?

  Maybe they planted their garlic in the Autumn. I’ve only done it once and that was in the garden at home before I ever got an allotment. I forgot where they were and thought they’d died until the started the shoot in the Spring. I planted the hollyhocks in seeds trays and then will transplant them into 3 inch pots when they’re large enough and then into the soil outside. You can grow them directly into the soil in April/May, but I find they get lost in amongst everything else. I’m a bit of a cotton wool parent to my seeds, not to my kids though I let them play in all weathers and climb and fall out of trees. We’ve had no broken bones yet, but I’m sure George will one day.

So many plantings. God willing, you will have a great harvest this year. My cherry tomatoes went crazy which was wonderful because I didn’t get any last year. It will be interesting to see how the Spanish seeds do. Must get me some lupine seeds.

  There’s still many more seeds to go, Hopefully I’ll get them all done. The kids are on Easter holidays starting this Friday, so I’ll get loads of gardening done. Let’s just hope the weather is good. I’m glad your cherry tomatoes did fantastically. I think they’re my favourite of all the tomatoes as they can be eaten in one go. And so sweet when grown at home.
