Sunday 8th May 2011

We had more rain last night, it was quite a soaking. But the day has been lovely and dry and sunny. I finished tiding the front garden, so it looks much better now. I’ve just got to tackle the back garden and all will be ready for lazing on a Sunday afternoon. As we had a very harsh winter, and I also think it’s through general age, some of the terra-cotta pots have either broken or crumbled, so I am replacing them as and when I come to them. I had to replace 3 out the front, and goodness knows how many out the back. Some of the Scardey Cat plants have out grown their pots, so I’m going to have to repot them. Another busy week planned down the allotment, don’t worry I’ll keep you informed.

Woke to the sweet pitter patter of rain this morning. Yay! Finally, but it didn’t last long, but then came back a little later. We’ve had enough to make a little difference. Some rain is better than none at all. By the time we’d got washed and dressed and I’d got outside, then the sun was out, so I started to tidy the front garden, didn’t quite finish, so I’ll have to continue tomorrow.

Only got to spend an hour down at the allotment today, but in that time I managed to weed and strim more. Also I sowed the White Carrots from http://www.thomasetty.co.uk . Still no rain, but it’s forecast for tonight, so we’ll have to wait and see.

Thursday 5th May 2011

Had a few drops of rain this morning, but then it went and that was it. It’s forecast now for Friday night and Saturday. Fingers crossed, but don’t hold your breath. Up at the allotment this morning I sowed Black Carrots, Radish and Spinach. I cleared another bed, manured and leaf moulded another bed and strimmed more grass. It’s getting there slowly but surely. Oh and I also put in 1 wigwam ready for the Runner Beans to climb up. This afternoon I made some more films in the greenhouse which were for Celery, Celeriac, Cabbage….they all seem to begin with “C”. I’m sure that’s all, but there must have been more.

When you’ve got holes in you trousers, be very careful when you bend over otherwise everyone can see you undies. Unless you wear the same colour as your trousers!
I did some of my filming today, so there’s lots of films for Mark to edit over the weekend. Horseradish, Radish, Globe Artichokes, Chard, and maybe something else….can’t remember. Anyway, lots of filming. I also managed to do a bit more weeding and more manure and leaf spreading. It was very cold last night, so everyones potatoes have wilted, not to worry, they’ll be fine. Still no sign of rain yet, MAYBE Saturday evening the weather man said. We’ll just have to wait and see. At least I can get all the washing dry. I looked very fetching this morning at 6.45am in my PJ’s, dressing gown, bed socks and pink flip flops when I hung the washing out. The mind boggles.

Sunday 1st may 2011

Popped in the shed to find some fleece for the plants and I found some popcorn that I had put in the shed to dry last October. I decided to give it 1 last go at popping, so got a large saucepan, some oil and had a go. To my utter amazement it worked. I was so excited that I called in Mark (who was lounging in the garden) and we made a little film. I was very tasty.
