The allotment always cheers you up when you’re feeling rather upset and down, so does my family and my chickens. I was only able to be down the allotment for a very short time this afternoon. I won’t bore you with all the details, but I was hoping to be down for most of the day today, but let’s just say our beautiful car was hurt again, early Sunday morning and we had to wait for a replacement this morning. Our car will be made all better on Wednesday, but then I’ll have to spend a considerable amount of time trying to vac up the glass. The more I think about it the more upset I get, so I’ll stop now.
So with all that happening I went to the allotment this afternoon for a bit of “Happy time”. I managed to dig up 1 cabbage and 1 potato plant before I got a phone call and had to come back home. Still the sizes of potatoes I managed to dig up, from just that one plant made me very happy indeed. They were all very sizeable ones but the 2 largest I’m going to share with you. So here they are in all their glory.
And in the left corner weighing in at 1 lb 7.6 oz!!! Knobbly Spud!!
No personal best, that was last year and stands at a whopping 1 lb 9.4 oz, but there are still lots more potatoes to harvest, so I may get a new personal best on the potatoes. I’ll let you know.
And in the right corner, weighing in at 1 lb 7.8 oz!!! Oval Spud!!
Hopefully tomorrow will be a better day. I’m planning on spending as much of it as possible at the allotment.

Thank you Linda. I feel slightly better today, but still not the usual me. The allotment always makes me feel better and cheers be up, especially when I dig up something that size.
You know, we’ve had some proper whoppers too in Birmingham. Though the varieties didn’t suggest they would be, we’ve had some epic pink fir apple and lady balfour. I do think that being grown in farmyard poop had something to do with. Best crop yet.
Must be a good year for all potatoes. I agree with you that farmyard poop must have special powers to make them so large. I’ll keep doing what I’m doing. It works and if it aint broke don’t fix it!!
