Monday 29th April 2013 – First taste of microgreen herbs.

Well it’s been another busy day, as I’m sure you can imagine. This morning I made another couple of films: Harvesting Microgreen herbs and harvesting salad leaves. Then down the allotment this afternoon to dig more and find the flask that I’d left down on my plot on Thursday. I have 2 little flasks which are great. I do lie to take a cup of tea on site with me, makes it feel more homely. But I could only find 1 flask this morning. I looked in the car and in my allotment bag, but it wasn’t there. Then it dawned on me that maybe I’d left it on the compost heap. And sure enough, there it was lying there all sad and cold. It’s plot inspection day tomorrow, so hopefully I’ll be ok. I thought I’d get a telling off letter last year, but I didn’t. But we’ll see they’re inspecting in afternoon when I won’t be there, so fingers crossed.

  1. I’m sure you will be ok

Have you got your broad beans, runner beans in and peas in yet Clair ?

    • I expect I’ll be fine. I didn’t plant any broad beans this year, not sure why, I usually do and they do really well. The peas are in, I’m growing Sugar Snap this year. But the beans won’t get planted until the middle of May. I’ll start them off in the greenhouse and will plant out in the allotment at the beginning of June. Two weeks is just right for them to be a manageable size to handle.

Good luck with the inspection Claire! Ou plot looks a sight at the moment so I hope we don’t have one till I’ve done some weeding!

    • Well if I do get a letter (which I shouldn’t, as my plot has been in a worst state than it is at the moment) it should arrive in a week. I’m not sure who got them, but hopefully the Council will then get on to letting to those on the waiting list.
