Monday 10th September 2012 – Summer squash.

Had a great morning and got very dirty, I’m not surprised. I harvested 3 different summer squash today, some are from a packet I brought in Spain, so I can’t remember what they’re called, and another was called “Sunburst”. I think I’ll roast them in the oven, unless someone has another idea of what to do with them. I would imagine Gas 4 until they’re soft. I also managed to sort out another couple of beds and in the process found a few more rogue potatoes, and harvest some more beetroot. All in all a good morning.

I planted my potatoes in buckets late so I am waiting for the plant to die back. It is like wating for Christmas to “open my surprise gifts” I am not hoping for an early frost but it makes me feel like a kid.

    • The leaves should die back very soon. Growing in containers is a great idea, it means that there is no digging, and you know you’ve got them all. As soon as the leaves start to turn brown you can go ahead and empty the buckets. Have fun.
