Just finished my lunch after spending about 2hours on the allotment this morning. I got loads done, which I’m very pleased about. Because we’ve had some heavy rain in the past few days, it means that weeding is so much easier, so if you haven’t been able to get into your garden or allotment since the rain, do so as soon as you can. I planted all my Mangetout, the 2 varieties I sowed were Shiraz which are purple and Golden Sweet which are green. Both I got from T&M. I’ve also sown all my peas with 1 variety from Johnsons called Ambassador and another from T&M called Hurst Green Shaft. I then did a load of weeding, and then found an opened packet of beetroot seeds in the bottom of my bag. I don’t know what variety they are, but I know they’re from Victorianan Nursery Gardens. Now I’ve got to get the garlic and onions in the car ready for tomorrow.

Thank you for visiting my blog, Claire. I’m also growing T&M ‘Shiraz’ Mangetout this season, a first for me, I’m looking forward to seeing these appear.

    • I love mangetout, especially when it’s fresh, and not been sitting on a supermarket shelf for a few days. It only needs blanching for about 2 minutes in boiling water and then eaten straight away.
