Well the hosepipe ban starts today, so no one be naughty and use theirs. You can get fined up to £1,000 if you’re caught.
On a brighter note I’ve been looking for another long handed bulb planter for making planting my 100’s of potatoes much easier. I did buy one a few years ago, but it was crap and I broke it. I’ve looked in 3 garden centres without any luck, but then I found one on Amazon. Joseph Bentley Stainless Steel Long Handled Bulb Planter’ by Solus Garden and Leisure Ltd. I’ve ordered it! The reviews look great all 5 star, so we’ll see how long it takes me to break this one. I’ll let you know how I get on with it.

Good evening Claire. I sow in your post, that you had heavy rain, but here today and yesterday, it is raining, rain and dirt, from Africa. All cars down the street, are dirty! I bought a hoe once, a cheap one, and now is worped. I need to buy a new one now! The day before yesterday, I planted the first cucumbers of new season, in their final places. I hope to get a good crop this year. Cucumbers, last year, were a disaster!

    • Sounds horrible. we get that sometimes the dust comes over from somewhere and then it rains and the cars get filthy. From past experience it’s best to spend money on gardening equipment, otherwise it doesn’t last. I’ve gone through so many small forks and trowels. I need to invest in a good pair of gardening glove ….. again.

What does the hosepipe ban mean for watering on your allotment?

    • It means that we can’t use them at all, even to fill up our water butts. Therefore more walking back and forth is necessary. I generally use the watering can, the only thing I do use the hose for is to fill up my butt!!
