What a wonderful sunny day. Popped to the allotment this morning, and wasn’t surprised to find blight on some of the tomatoes. I spend most of the morning pulling up the tomatoes and taking off the uninfected fruit. Blight likes humid and damp conditions and that has been in abundance the last week or so. I made a little video when I got home about blight, so hopefully it’ll be up this weekend. I found a couple of very bizarre shaped tomatoes. You’d never find that in a shop. I’ll pick the rest tomorrow. So far I’ve got 7 trays above the kitchen cupboards. The ones in the greenhouse are slowly changing colour.

I HAVE ALWAYS FELT THAT BLIGHT IS THE WORST TOMATO PROBLEM THERE IS. I REMEMBER ON YEAR IN THE PAST WHERE I DID NOT GET ONE RIPE TOMATO DUE TO BLIGHT. NO OTHER TOMATO PROBLEM HAS EVER BEEN SO HARD TO DEAL WITH.

    • Yes I know, and it comes on so fast and without warning. You can look one day and all is fine and the next day it’s all over the plant. I’ve had to take up all the tomato plants on the allotment, and have noticed that it’s started at home on the ones in the garden. The greenhouse seems to be ok so far, but I’m keeping my eyes peeled. If you pick the tomatoes as soon as you spot blight you can save most of them.
