Oh wow, I’m so excited!!! My new toy arrived today……my long handled bulb planter!!
Yes I know to some of you that’s not very exciting, but I’m jolly excited. For those of you who may remember I did purchase a cheaper one a couple of years ago, but I broke it last year (there’s a surprise). This one however, has got a wooden handle and is much sturdier. When I try it out at the weekend I’ll let you know how I get on.

Monday 9th April 2012

Well I was hoping to go down the allotment today, but the weather was yucky, so instead I sowed the following seeds: Sweetcorn varieties were Rising Sun and Snobaby, and Courgettes variety Sunstripe. They’re yellow with white stripes, I thought they looked interesting.
It’s been a great long weekend with lots done at the allotment and in the greenhouse, so I’m one happy bunny.

Sunday 8th April 2012

Happy Easter everyone, try not to eat too much chocolate! I went to the allotment this morning, it was drizzling first thing, but then stopped so I was able to get quite a lot done. We won’t be short on carrots this year as I think I’ve sown about 1,000!!! From Thompson & Morgans I’ve sown Sugarsnax and Rainbow, from Unwins I’ve sown Champion. I’ve come to the conclusion with Unwins seeds that they purposely dye them different colours so you know where you’ve sown them. Sensible idea I must say. And then from Victoriana Nursery Gardens I’ve sown Cosmic Colour Collection. I also sown the rest of my Spring onions and the inevitable weeding. Also my Purple Sprouting Broccoli is still going, so I picked some to go with dinner tonight. The tips of my fingers are now sensitive from all the weeding.

Saturday 7th April 2012

Had a lovely morning at the allotment today. It wasn’t in as much of a mess as I thought it would be. The Broad beans that I sowed a while back are starting to come through. I also began the horrendus task of weeding. Some of the beds were easier than others, but having weeded enough I sowed the following: Beetroot called “Cardeal” (the seeds were green?) and “Detroit”. Spinach “Bordeaux F1 Hybrid”, Spring onions “Lilia” and Parsnips “Tender and True”. Then this afternoon Mark and I filmed some more videos for you, so keep your eyes peeled. Have a great weekend.
