Monday 4th April 2011

I spent just under 3 hours down the allotment today. I’ve now planted all my onions, garlic and carrots. Goodness me there were a lot of them. I thought I’d planted all the onions when I suddenly saw another 50 in a tray on the back seat of the car. I forgot I put some there. I also planted another 2 rows of peas, but then hunger took over and I had to go home for some lunch. This week isn’t as busy as normal, so hopefully I’ll be down again a few more times this week. The kids break up on Friday so I’m up against the clock.

  1. Heaven! being able to spend unlimited time down the allotment. We put our onions, garlic and carrots in now, here in Tasmania. I have had some health issues and am a little behind with the planting but I cleared the popcorn patch, the tomato and cucumber areas so will get to the rest soon, I hope. I have some lovely pumpkins coming along and the weirdest looking zucchini that is shaped like a big twisted snake.

    • I really should take some lunch with me and then I could stay longer. I expect I’ll do that come the warmer weather. If seeds go in a little late it doesn’t really matter. After all you’re growing bits for yourself and they don’t have to be uniformed sizes. The snake shaped veg sounds fab. Can you take a photo and send it to me? Not sure how to do that, but you may know. Have a great year.
